When Andrew, a timid, obese college student, falls in love for the first time with Nat, a quirky free spirit, the romance is short lived as tragedy strikes. But a spiritual connection between the two inexplicably begins taking shape. Then Andrew’s best friend, Ilario, who is fatally haunted by a vicious high school hazing attack, commits suicide. Andrew grows lonely and reclusive. In a surge of anger he decides to exact revenge against Efron, the hazing perpetrator. But things go terribly wrong and Andrew finds himself faced with circumstances that fringe on extortion. His only hope of breaking free is to drastically change his appearance. And after doing so, he unwittingly meets face-to-face with Efron. The handsome lawyer with a cocky attitude and a puffed-up ego befriends Andrew. Unaware that Efron’s intentions are duplicitous, Andrew halfheartedly yields to the attorney’s propositions. The consequences become ruinous to an innocent victim that Andrew knows only too well and that stands to lose everything. Suddenly Andrew is confronted with the same situation that could land him in jail. Examining how the spiritual bond with Nat has altered his life, Andrew must decide whether to expose Efron and face possible criminal charges. Will he act honorably or run away?
